Journey: The Reason I Don't Stop Believing

So yesterday when I was at work I went into the restroom and the radio playing in there had Journey song on. I love Journey. And later on, when I went in again (I go to the bathroom a lot), another Journey song was playing. It was like it was an All-Journey Friday. Brilliant!

The Needle. The Lump. The Lack of Anesthetic.

So Mike and I went down to the UC Davis Cancer center downtown to get a lump underneath my arm biopsied. I know, we're such crazy kids!

Although my general practitioner had forewarned us that our destination that morning was, in fact, the cancer center, it's always unnerving to sit for 35 minutes in a waiting room filled with people in headscarves, hooked up to IV machines and pallidly watching Regis and Kathy's morning show. Fanny Pack Rock

So Mike and I were out having drinks last night (what else?) and we both suddenly became aware that the music wafting through the bar was a song by Matchbox 20.  We realized it around the same time, and this led to a discussion of Matchbox 20 and what kind of music they, as a band represent. You might think that I am going to categorize them as "alternative" or "adult contemporary", but let me throw you a curveball by choosing none of the above. Matchbox 20, while probably fitting into those categories, can best be described as Fanny Pack Rock. More...
